Persistence in a Tiny Red Shell: A reflection on faith, endurance, and being seen.

Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Movement caught my attention. I looked down at my desk and noticed a little ladybug on the rim of my pencil cup. She was circling slowly and steadily. Hours passed, and she was still there, still moving. Every so often I’d check, and there she was. When I left for the day, she was still on the rim, still on the move.
Driving home, I realized: I feel like that bug sometimes.
Just plodding along.
Just circling the same routines, the same prayers, the same struggles.
Wondering if I’m making progress.
Wondering if God sees me.
But here’s the truth: He does.
The ladybug didn’t know she was being watched. But I saw her.
And God sees you.
What if the journey itself is shaping us?
What if the circles build endurance, humility, and trust?
That little ladybug didn’t stop. She kept moving.
That is faith by choosing to keep going, even when the path feels repetitive or unclear.
Today, if you feel like you’re going in circles, remember:
You are not lost.
You are not forgotten.
God has a plan.
He knows where this path leads.
And He knows you need this part of the journey.

Where in your life do you feel like you’re going in circles?
Take a moment to name those places and then ask God to show you how He might be shaping you in the process. What seeds might be growing, even if you can’t see them yet?
