Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah. Luke 2:11

I love Christmas music. It irritates my daughters. Something about watching your mom dance around or some such.
By far, my favorite Christmas song is “Mary Did You Know?”(written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene, first recorded by Michael English, 1991). Every time I hear it, I cry.
I find myself thinking about that teenager. Mary must have felt frightened that night. She was far from home, in a city not her own. Vulnerable. Giving birth in less-than-ideal circumstances. All she had to cling to was God’s promise and faith. Yet in her arms she held the Savior of the world. She held hope for all of mankind.
In many ways, we as Christians live the same reality. We exist in a world we do not belong to. We are vulnerable to all it throws at us. We are sustained only by faith in God’s promises. Our lives, our experiences, and even our struggles become seeds of testimony, pointing others to the salvation found in Christ.
The heart of Christmas is not comfort or certainty. It is not about Christmas trees and presents. It is faith. Faith that God’s promises are true. His provision is enough. His timing — in the fullness of time — is perfect. Mary’s faith carried her through the unknown. Similarly, our faith carries us until the day His kingdom is fully revealed.
This season, let us pause to marvel at the mystery of Christ’s birth. Let us worship in awe. We must hold fast to the faith that sustains us in a world that is not our home.
If this seed touched you, scatter it by sharing with a friend.
