🌱 Step Back to See

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

I was standing in the grocery store staring at a shelf that absolutely refused to make sense. I knew the item I needed was somewhere in that aisle, but the longer I searched, the more frustrated I became. I scanned labels up close, leaned in, shifted left, shifted right β€” nothing. It was as if the thing had vanished.

Finally, in exasperation, I took a few steps back.

And there it was.
Not hidden. Not misplaced.
Just outside the narrow little tunnel I had created with my own focus.

As I stood there holding the item, I felt a quiet truth settle in my heart. How many times have I done this with God? I press in so tightly on one problem, one prayer, one fear, that my world shrinks to the size of a single shelf. I focus on the problem and not on God.

I need to learn to step back. Not away from Him, but away from my frantic searching. When I widen my view, breathe, and look again, I often find that the clarity I needed was already there. I was simply too close to notice.

God isn’t hiding His guidance from me. Sometimes He’s just waiting for me to see the bigger picture He’s been arranging all along.
