🌱Before This Moment Passes

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

I wear a ring engraved with the words “This too shall pass.”
My daddy said those words long before I ever saw them etched in silver. Back then, I thought they were about getting through hard times. Enduring. Holding on. Waiting for the storm to move on.

But lately, I’ve realized something deeper.

It’s not just the hard things that pass.
The good things do too.

Children grow up.
Opportunities open and close.
Strength shifts.
Joy and sorrow move like seasons, each one temporary, each one slipping quietly from our hands.

Ecclesiastes says, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
Not a season we can cling to.
Not a season we can slow down.
Just a season here for a moment, then gone.

And because everything passes, the only place God invites us to truly live is the present moment.

Yesterday is already gone.
Tomorrow is unknown.
But this moment — this breath, this nudge, this chance to obey — is still in my hands.

“This too shall pass” isn’t just a comfort.
It’s a commission.

It’s God whispering,
“Don’t miss what I’m giving you right now.”

The conversation you need to have.
The forgiveness you need to offer.
The calling you need to accept.
The obedience you need to walk out.

We don’t get to hold on to moments.
We only get to respond to them.

And I don’t want to look back wishing I had moved while the moment was still in my hands.
